Cheese Stuffed Fillo Mummy Dogs
Halloween season fun! Save the apple bobbing, and dig right into these cheddar stuffed mummy dogs. You'll love the squeals of childish delight.
Ingredients
- Your favorite Hot Dogs/ Frankfurters - 6-8
- Shredded Cheddar - 1 cup
- small carrot - 1-2
- Fillo Factory Fillo Dough - 1 lb Box
- yellow mustard - two Tbsp
- butter melted - 1/3 cup
Instructions
Preheat Oven to 375f
- Follow directions on the fillo package so it is ready to use. Basically you have to defrost it overnight in the fridge and leave it on the counter for an hour or so before you use it, so it is easy to handle.
- Slit each hot dog down the center and push in a tablespoon or so of cheese.
- Take a sheet of the fillo (phyllo) dough and lay it on a clean counter. (cover the rest tightly with plastic wrap) Butter it with a brush and lay another sheet over it, butter that also. Using a sharp NON-serrated knife, cut the dough into 1/2 strips. Wrap a strip or two around each stuffed dog, leave a little space where the eyes can go.
- While they bake, take your carrot and mustard and get them ready. The carrot should be pared or sharpened so you can cut them into round "eyes" - Cut two for each dog. When the dogs are out, use the mustard as glue, and press the eyes into place.
Watch them disappear!
these are so easy to make and so much fun to eat. Actually, they’re too cute to eat… 🙂
